With Worcester seizing the top spot in the country for the most snow fall in a city according to GoLocalWorcester, it has become clear that winter is in full effect. If you hated New England's weather before, you are guaranteed to have cabin fever by now. I feel like I have been trapped inside for weeks on end. Just when you think there is a light at the end of the tunnel, more snow is dropped on us, literally. When I’m feeling trapped by the snow it is hard to have any motivation to be productive. As the snow continues to fall it is almost impossible to continue on with keeping your daily routine. There are a few things I have found myself doing to keep myself motivated during this polar vortex.
Exercise: I try to make it to the gym or get a little exercise to get my body moving. It is important to keep active when you the snow keeps you inside to help reduce stress and anxiety. You will feel less lethargic and get more energy by moving your body. Even playing in the snow is a perfect activity that can be fun as well. During the pass few weeks Clarkies have been the first to go sledding or have a snowball fight.

Cooking: I love cooking or baking when stuck inside because it keeps me busy and the food will give you energy. Instead of sitting around watching TV, eating something will surely make you feel awake and energized. I love to search the internet on websites such as Pinterest and Instagram to find yummy recipes.
Light: Another way to beat the winter blues is to get as much sunlight and light as possible. I try to open the shade to my window to let in any sunlight. Our bodies rely on sunlight to keep ourselves in synch. Light also gives us nutrients that help run our bodies. Seasonal depression is a common disorder that causes depression in many individuals. Getting out in the sunlight, opening shades or tuning on lights is important.
XOXO, Hannah
